Shed Grounds Maintenance, a leading company in the grounds maintenance industry, has announced the launch of a new Employee Wellness Program designed to help their team lead a happy and balanced life.

The past few years have been tough on a great number of people, with many struggling through difficult times. Almost 4 in 10 people have said that their health has deteriorated because of the pandemic. As a company Shed recognise that their employee's mental wellbeing is as important as their physical wellbeing and has taken great steps to support them.

In January 2023, the Company engaged Paycare to provide a comprehensive package of health benefits to all team members. Paycare is a ‘not for profit’ health cash plan provider who reinvests any profits made to improve the plan for its members and support good causes in the community, having donated more than £2million to charity to date. The new health plan provides Shed employees with financial support for everyday health and wellbeing including optical and dental costs, and supports health screening, specialist consultations and professional therapy. The scheme also includes a range of ‘Paycare Perks’, which give employees fantastic discounts on everyday activities.

To support the program, Shed has also appointed Mel Sellors as their Wellbeing Officer and qualified Mental Health First Aider. Mel provides information, guidance, and advice to their employees around topics such as mental health and wellbeing. Additionally, if employees have any concerns, Mel is the best point of contact as the wellbeing officer.

Mel said,

“I am thrilled to be appointed as the new Wellbeing Officer for Shed Grounds Maintenance. I have learnt a great deal through my training such as how to start challenging conversations, how to support and signpost my colleagues, and recognise the potential signs of wellbeing issues among others. The more I study this area the more I understand how important this service is to any business.”

Mel has worked for Shed for many years and is a well-known face to all the team. She was the perfect candidate for the role of well-being Officer and has thrown herself into her role. Alongside Paycare, Mel will offer support and advice to Shed’s employees.

The launch of the new well-being scheme marks an important milestone for Shed Grounds Maintenance, as it continues to demonstrate its commitment to its employees and their health and well-being.
