Golden Ticket Prize Draw Reaps Rewards For Local Shoppers

Four local people have received vouchers to be spent at businesses in Derby’s Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter after entering a Golden Ticket prize draw organised by the areas’ Business Improvement Districts (BIDs).

More than 5,000 people entered the draw – posting their details in special boxes which were stationed across the city centre.

All four winners were chosen at random and have each received £500 worth of vouchers with one of them choosing to donate part of her prize to Women’s Aid and the Hope Centre in recognition of the work that the charities do to support local communities.

The Gold Ticket promotion was launched by the BIDs to encourage more people to shop local over the Christmas period.

Martin Langsdale MBE, chair of the Cathedral Quarter BID and Helen Wathall MBE, chair of St Peters Quarter BID explained:

“Since Covid restrictions started to ease, the BIDs have focused on organising and supporting different activities and promotions to encourage people back into the city centre.

“Engagement in the Gold Ticket promotion has been excellent – proving that people continue to be keen to support local businesses and we have some exciting plans to maintain the momentum in the coming months.”
