GIC celebrates record year with new appointments

A Gainsborough manufacturing business is aiming to build on a record-breaking financial year by adding three new employees to its team.

GIC, which designs, manufactures, installs and maintains vertical form fill and seal packaging machines, increased its turnover by 27% between October 2020 and 30 September 2021.

With one machine leaving its factory each week, the company's directors Andy Beal and Luke Murphy have decided to take on three new staff.

Ian Redhead, Mark Roberts and Lewis Shaw have all joined GIC's service team.

Ian has taken on the role of Service Co-ordinator with responsibility for managing the service diary and liaising with the service team to assign service, pre-delivery inspections, training and installations. He joins GIC from Eminox, where over the course of 22 years, he worked his way up to Installation and Service Delivery Manager, looking after a team of 13 people.

As service engineers, Mark and Lewis will undertake preventative maintenance, installations, training and breakdowns amongst the ever-increasing GIC install base.

As well as the new appointments, GIC’s growth has also led to the promotion of Nick Beal, who moves from Software Engineer to Service & Support Manager.

"Despite everything that has happened in the last twelve months, we have found a way to grow the business, and this is a testimony to the team's hard work and dedication," says Andy. "We have also won new business and attracted a lot of orders from companies we've not previously worked with, which is really pleasing."

The team at GIC are focused on maintaining their high standards.

"Our last financial year was excellent, and we have supplied more machines than ever before," says Luke. "We need to ensure that we continue to offer the best possible experience to our customers, which is why we have decided to recruit. We are delighted to welcome Ian, Mark and Lewis to GIC!"

GIC was established in 1987, with Andy and Luke completing an MBO in 2007. Since then, the business has grown by an average of 15% each year.

Today, GIC's machines operate in a wide range of sectors, packing fresh and frozen produce, aggregates and bullion. Customers such as Morrisons, Natures Way, IPL and Kelkay rely on the GIC's packaging machines at the end of their production lines.
