CELEBRATIONS AS NELSONS’ PARTNER HONOURED WITH LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

A partner and solicitor at leading law firm Nelsons has been given the highly prestigious ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at this year’s Nottinghamshire Law Society Awards.

Richard Grosberg, former head of Nelsons' Court of Protection and trust administration teams, qualified in 1985 and joined Nelsons that same year as an associate before going on to become a partner in 1991.

He said:

“I’m honoured to have been given the lifetime achievement award. When I joined Nelsons in 1985, I immediately recognised that the firm would provide me with a fantastic opportunity to progress and, 36 years later, there’s no doubt in my mind that I made the right decision.

“Being able to come into work and empower my clients by guiding them through the complex legal issues they face has been an immense privilege, and to be recognised in this way is a truly humbling. Without my clients and colleagues, I wouldn’t be the solicitor I am today.”

Richard has extensive expertise in several areas, having overseen the residential conveyancing and investment management teams. The Court of Protection team has also seen rapid growth over the past ten years, with the department now representing a wide range of clients across the entirety of the East Midlands.

He added:

“One of the highlights of my career is the sheer variety of cases I have been fortunate enough to work on. This has enabled me to assist a diverse range of people in many different stages of their lives and given me a comprehensive understanding of the complexities of life and law.

"Richard has been a pivotal part of Nelsons’ development and has seen the firm grow from its original Nottingham base into a large regional practice with offices in Derby, and Leicester, an annual turnover of £18.5 million and 200 employees across its three offices."

Earlier this year, he handed the reins of the Court of Protection team to Craig Staten-Spencer, he said:

“Richard led the private client and court of protection teams for many years and his knowledge and experience have been a source of support for everyone in the team. His enthusiasm has seen him act as a mentor to many people and he has had a huge impact on the local legal community during his career.”

Stewart Vandermark, chief executive of Nelsons, said:

“We are absolutely delighted that Richard has won the lifetime achievement award. Richard has been a part of Nelsons’ journey since the very early days and been instrumental in the firm’s growth from a small Nottingham base into a leading regional firm, particularly in developing the private client team into the success it is today. It is fantastic that his expertise and passion for helping clients and the wider community has been recognised by the Nottinghamshire Law Society with this award.

“I would like to thank Richard personally for his work over the many years as he gradually reduces his hours in preparation for what will be a well-earned retirement after an incredibly successful career.”
