HOMELESS CHARITY WELCOMES DONATION FROM AMAZON TEAM

Doorways Derby supports some of the most vulnerable people in the community by providing a food bank, food produce table and ongoing support to make sure people don’t go hungry. Since March 2020, the charity has delivered more than 2,000 food parcels to people in need, while also supporting more than 120 households who are facing food poverty.

Commenting on the donation, Celia Syme, Site Leader at Amazon in Kegworth, said:

“Doorways Derby provides important services for vulnerable people in our community. At Amazon, we’re extremely passionate about supporting the community and we’re pleased to make this donation.”

Victoria Ayres, who nominated Doorways Derby, said:

“I’m pleased Doorways Derby has been chosen to receive this donation from Amazon, they do such great work in the community.”

Lisa Wheatley from Doorways Derby, added:

“On behalf of everyone at Doorways Derby, I want to say thank you to Victoria, Celia and the entire Amazon team. This has been a hugely challenging year to keep our important services operating. Community donations like these ensure we are able to keep supporting those who need us most.”

Doorways Derby received the donation as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities around its operating locations across the UK.

Community donations are one of a number of ways in which Amazon is supporting communities across the UK during COVID-19.

Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic breakfast and delivering more than four million healthy breakfasts to families around the UK.
