LOCAL RESIDENT BECOMES AMBASSADOR FOR SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL AT NEW PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT

Go Travel Solutions have appointed Carrie Wainwright as their LocalGo Promoter in New Lubbesthorpe, Leicestershire. It is an initiative aimed at helping residents with information on buses, train, cycling and walking and promoting the benefits of sustainable travel.   

 

Carrie Wainwright, LocalGo Promoter said,

“I am delighted to be joining the Go Travel Solutions team as LocalGo Promoter for New Lubbesthorpe.” She added “I am passionate about the New Lubbesthorpe community and a keen advocate of sustainable travel. As the LocalGo Promoter for New Lubbesthorpe, I want to hear from the community about what people want to see regarding sustainable travel.”

Carrie is a resident of New Lubbesthorpe and a mum of three little girls. She is the founder of the local magazine Lubbsy and previously worked as a Children’s and Families Worker and a Secondary Cover Teacher. As part of her work, she will be in the New Lubbesthorpe Hub once a month to help residents with local travel information and the LocalGo scheme.

Martin Ward on behalf of Drummond Estate, the landowners of New Lubbesthorpe, said

“New Lubbethorpe is a pioneering new community and it’s fantastic that one of our local residents will now help her neighbours live more sustainably. We have lots of attractive and viable alternatives to using the car and Carrie will build on the great work already achieved by the team.”

Sue Steer on behalf of Lubbesthorpe Alive CIC, the local community enterprise based in New Lubbesthorpe, said “I am really pleased to work alongside Carrie in this growing community”

New Lubbesthorpe is a pioneering new community to the west of Leicester providing new homes, schools, community facilities and an employment park adjacent to the M1/M69. The development will also provide 325 acres of new parklands for local residents to enjoy. 

More than 550 homes are now occupied at the site, with Davidsons, Barratt, David Wilson Homes and Redrow Homes bringing forward a full range of housing types. In addition to the £15million new motorway bridge, a new primary school has already opened. 

Ultimately the development will deliver up to 4,250 houses, an employment park capable of creating 1,000 jobs, three schools, district and local centres and health facilities.
