Good sports at Belmayne embark on first charity test

Three financial planners from Dronfield-based Belmayne are putting their best feet forward to kick off a new year of fundraising for four local charities.

The trio will join thousands of runners taking part in this weekend’s Dronfield 10K, beginning a series of sponsored sporting endeavours in aid of the Belmayne Foundation.

Belmayne partners, Martin Birch and Jon Stevens, along with trainee financial planner, Chris Pond, will be pounding the streets of Dronfield on Sunday (March 15) to put the first funds into the firm’s charity pot. All money raised this year will be split equally between Pathways of Chesterfield, Nenna Kind Cancer Support, Bakewell’s Helen’s Trust and FareShare Yorkshire.

The fundraising baton will then pass to Martin Birch, who is taking part in the Sheffield Half Marathon on March 29, before fellow partner, Ben Smalley, cycles his way around the Tour de Yorkshire Ride 2020 on May 3. Finally, Jon Stevens and two friends will complete the 20K Round Sheffield Run on June 28.

Martin said:

“We are quite literally going the extra mile for our chosen charities this year, running and cycling more than 100km over the next four months, in a bid to raise much needed funds for these vital community-run organisations. We are looking forward to beginning our challenge this weekend with a team effort at the Dronfield 10K, where I’m sure the home crowd will give us an extra boost.”

The Chartered independent firm established its own foundation last year, to raise funds for small charities who support health and wellbeing and provide relief for those in need. In its first 12 months, £11,000 was donated to its chosen organisations.
