Local charity makes a move to The Derby Conference Centre

Local Charity ‘me & dee’ have moved their office from Friar Gate in Derby City Centre to The Derby Conference Centre.

The charity provides holidays on the Lincolnshire Coast for adults and children with life threatening, life shortening and terminal conditions; allowing families facing short futures a memory making holiday.

The move comes after the Founder and CEO of me & dee, Maria Hanson, found she was struggling with their Friar Gate office due to her disability. The office was found to be an inconvenience as it didn’t have the space, which meant the charity had to book out meeting rooms and rent a storage container. The move to The Derby Conference Centre’s site means the charity can now offer level access, disabled toilets, storage space and a meeting room.

Maria who works 200 voluntary hours a month, has said that:

“I am now able to have many more meetings in the comfort of my own office and I can invite sponsors and our supporters to meetings knowing they can easily access the site. Having everything under one roof cuts down everyone’s travelling time too, it’s a very versatile space.”

The Charity has used The Derby Conference Centre for the past 10 years, developing great relationships with Managing Director, Matthew Hutchings and Sales and Conference Office Manager, Rebecca Prime. The centre has helped host huge events for me & dee, including recreating Narnia for 100 poorly children and their families and organising events with stalls and meetings. Matthew has even provided Maria with her own allocated parking spot outside of the office, so she can access the building with ease.
