The Dairy and Nottingham Trent University celebrate ‘monstrous’ award-win at the prestigious Heist Awards!

Award-winning creative agency The Dairy and Nottingham Trent University (NTU) are celebrating after a campaign for the university’s Employability Team recently scooped the Gold Award for Best Internal Communications Campaign at the prestigious annual Heist Awards.

The Heist Awards recognise excellence and innovation in education marketing and this year’s ceremony took place at The Principal Hotel in Manchester on 12th July. Judges chose the winning entry in the category for Best Internal Communications Campaign based on a campaign that was refreshing and innovative and has “engaged stakeholders within an institution”.

Nottingham Trent University put forward its ‘monsters’ campaign from 2017, which aimed to engage final year students and prepare them for the ‘scary’ world of work after graduation.

NTU partnered with local creative agency The Dairy to come up with a creative concept for the campaign and roll it out across channels including social media, printed postcards, bus adverts and digital screens - using the agency’s in-house design, illustration and copywriting expertise. The ‘monsters’ concept was chosen because it delivered a visual representation of the obstacles that students face when preparing for life after university - from building a CV to interview preparation.

The campaign proved hugely successful for NTU, seeing a 37.6% year-on-year increase in first appointments with the Employability Team - with 45% of the final year cohort engaging with the team when compared to 36% the year before.

This award-win comes on the back of a hugely successful year for both The Dairy and Nottingham Trent University. NTU was named as University of the Year in 2017 by the Times Higher Education Awards and also took home the crown of The Sunday Times’ Modern University of the Year in 2018 as part of the Good University Guide.

The Dairy recently won the Professional Services Award at the annual Nottingham Post Business Awards and was also named as a finalist in the Sales and Marketing category. The company is also a finalist in the Marketing Campaign of the Year category at the 2018 East Midlands Chamber Business Awards.

Speaking about the Heist Gold award-win, NTU’s Student Employability Services Manager Debra Easter said,

“Engaging our final year students is really challenging when they are focused on final year assignments and exams,”

She continued, “It was essential that we had a high impact, eye-catching campaign that struck a chord with students - and the monsters have certainly delivered! We would like to thank The Dairy for its brilliant creative thinking and we’re delighted to have won the Gold Award!”

Dairy MD Nigel Rowlson was equally delighted with the result in what has been a positive year so far for his team,

“The monsters concept instantly took off and was loved by not only the students and staff of NTU, but by our own team at The Dairy,”.

He continued, “We have a great working relationship with Nottingham Trent University and we are proud to have such a respected higher education provider as one of our clients. We look forward to working closely with NTU on further creative campaigns in the future!”
