PKF Cooper Parry named Best Tax Practice

The Midlands-based business was named Best Tax Practice in a Regional Firm at Tolley’s Tax Awards 2018

On what is the biggest night of the year for the tax sector in the UK, PKF Cooper Parry (Cooper Parry) picked up its latest award for its “ethos, dynamic culture and emphasis on teamwork.”

In what was described as “the stand-out entry of the entire awards,” the judges also commended Cooper Parry’s submission as, “Not mere spin, but backed up by impressive growth figures.”

With further growth expected for the Midlands-based tax team this year, the business continues to work with more privately-owned businesses in the Midlands with a turnover between £10-£200m than any other.

Over the 12 months, Cooper Parry has invested heavily in its team, hiring specialists and industry leaders in R&D, international tax, digital transformation and capital allowances. Its submission emphasised its focus on client experience, innovation and personal growth for its people.

The award comes after a 12th place finish at The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For 2018, winning the Professional Services Awards at The Birmingham Post Business Awards 2017 and Most Innovative Practice at The British Accountancy Awards 2016.

To support its clients with a global reach, Cooper Parry is part of PKF International, one of the largest accountancy networks in the world.

Tolley’s Tax Awards

For the award, Cooper Parry was up against other accountancy firms which operate from more than one main office and provide a tax service direct to their clients.

The 2018 awards were on Thursday 17th May at the Hilton Park Lane, London, where over 500 tax professionals celebrated the winners.

The Taxation Awards made their debut in 2001 and quickly became recognised as marks of excellence within the tax sector. The prizes are now sought-after by UK tax professionals, whether they work for multinational companies or in accountancy and law firms.

Simon Baines, Head of Tax at Cooper Parry, said:

“Working in our team I’m surrounded by 60 brilliant tax brains – a mix of technical experts, people leaders, people who can tell stories, run marathons, walk up huge mountains, you name it.

“We’ve got such a diverse group of great people here at PKF Cooper Parry. And I know that all of them will enjoy celebrating this award just as much as I will.

“We’ve got big plans for the year ahead, where we’ll keep trying to be even better for our clients. We can’t wait for another great year.”
