Gender pay gap at Barker Ross Staffing Solutions reflects commitment to equality

Recruitment business Barker Ross Staffing Solutions has unveiled a gender pay gap – the difference between what male and female employees are paid – of just 2.3 percent.

The Leicester-based company, which supplies staff across sectors comprising industrial, food, office support, agriculture, technical and logistics, also paid bonuses to more women than men in the period under review.

Its figures relate to temporary workers as well as to its own employees.

To comply with new gender pay and bonus gap reporting rules, the company focused on a snapshot date of April 4 2017.

Tim Sutcliffe, managing director of Barker Ross Staffing Solutions, said the numbers clearly showed men and women being paid equally for doing equivalent jobs across the business.

He said:

“Internally, and externally, we have built a successful recruitment business which genuinely cares about its employees, candidates and clients.

“In keeping with this ethos, we have always sought to treat everyone equally, regardless of gender, and are proud of the steps we have taken to support and promote women in business.

“We want to create a company that attracts and retains the best people – which is why we have a good balance of men and women and a gender pay gap which reflects our commitment to workplace gender equality.

“Our support of female employees is also clear from our bonus figures, with 5.5 percent of women versus 2.7 percent of men receiving bonuses in the period under review.

“As a well-established recruitment company and reputable employer, we believe that gender pay reporting is an incredibly important and positive move.  If companies are transparent about pay and can identify the root causes of any pay gap, they can then look at ways of addressing their equality issues and work towards building a better business.”
