Richard Shakespeare Nominated for the UK’s Largest Diversity Awards

Richard Shakespeare, Managing Director of Workplace Diversity Solutions based in Coalville, has been nominated for a Positive Role Model award at The National Diversity Awards 2018.

The breathtaking setting of Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral is the venue for this year’s awards, to be held on 14th September. Britain’s most inspirational and selﬂess people will come together to honour the rich tapestry of our nation, recognising individuals and groups from grassroots communities.

The prestigious black-tie event recognises nominees in their respective ﬁelds of diversity including age, disability, gender, race, faith, religion and sexual orientation.

Richard Shakespeare is the Managing Director of Workplace Diversity Solutions, a specialist company providing diversity and inclusion learning solutions to some of the country’s largest businesses.

During 2009 Richard was made redundant from the financial services sector. Over the following 12 months, Richard would complete almost 2,000 job applications in a tireless effort to secure employment. Richard's main goal was to give something to society and make his family proud.

After spending over £1,000 on stamps and attending hundreds of interviews, Richard decided to become self-employed and work towards building a more inclusive society.

Having lived with a disability since birth, Richard is able to offer a unique insight into the challenges faced by consumers with a disability.

Microsoft and Direct Line were 2017 headline sponsors of the UK’s largest diversity awards, attracting a growing list of supporters including Sir Lenny Henry, Graham Norton and Katie Piper.

Olympic diver Tom Daley said:

The Last Leg star Adam Hills and Child Prodigy Joshua Beckford received accolades at the last event.

The National Diversity Awards receives over 20,000 nominations and votes annually. Founder & CEO Paul Sesay said:
