BEST RESULT YET AS FIVE KH HAIR SALONS GO THROUGH TO NATIONAL BUSINESS AWARDS FINAL

An East Midlands salon group is celebrating after a record five of its hair salons were announced as finalists in the 2017 British Hairdressing Business Awards.

The awards, hosted by Hairdressers Journal International (HJ), celebrate the very best salon businesses in the country – an industry which contributes an estimated £7bn to the British economy and one which employs more than 300,000 people.

KH Hair Nottingham, based in Castle Gate, has been named as a finalist in two categories - Retail Salon of the Year and Front of House Team of the Year (both sponsored by Tigi) - and Salon Director Debbie McMenamin, says she is feeling honoured and very proud of her hard-working team. "Our front-of-house team are the beating heart of the business and we simply couldn’t function without them." she explains. "From customer care to those all-important admin tasks which make a world of difference, I'm so proud they’re being recognised in this special category. As for retail, it's something our entire team takes very seriously and it's all credit to them that we’ve made it through to the final."

Another finalist to be announced in the Retail Salon of the Year category is KH Hair Tutbury which is run my mother and daughter team, Jane Maskell and Beckie Maznenko. "We were absolutely thrilled when we heard." said Beckie. Over the past six years, our retail sales have improved by a yearly average of 21%, which is testament to the teams' hard work and dedication and it's thanks to each and every one of them that we've been recognised for this fantastic award."

KH Hair Hinckley's Director, Helen Fuller, was equally thrilled when her salon was announced alongside Nottingham as a finalist for the Front of House Team of the Year Award. "I strongly believe our first-class front of house provision sets us apart from other salons in our area." she said. "I'm absolutely delighted we've been shortlisted in this category and very proud to be at the helm of such a professional, warm, welcoming and talented team."

The KH Hair Training Academy and salon, based in Long Eaton, is a finalist in the Training Award category, sponsored by Wella. Darren Messias, Managing Director of the KH Hair Group, said: "Just reaching the finals means our salons and academy stand out as some of the finest hair service providers and trainers in the country and my business partner, Tim Fee, and I are very proud to have a record amount of our businesses recognised in this way.

"Our thanks and best wishes for the finals go to everyone involved, including our hard-working tutors who are giving our young trainees the opportunity to be part of a successful, established brand and nurturing their talent to help them continue to develop new skills throughout their career."

HJ’s Executive Director, Jayne Lewis-Orr, said: “Promoting professionalism, innovation and excellence, the British Hairdressing Business Awards recognise those individuals and teams who work tirelessly to raise the profile and stature of this industry, and make it one of which we can all be proud."

The awards ceremony will take place in London on Monday 11 September.
