Mansfield based TIS ranked as a top 200 company for growth in the East Midlands

Mansfield-based fire, security and communications specialists TIS have been named one of the fastest growing companies in the East Midlands for the second successive year.

The company, whose headquarters is at Oakham Business Park and also operates regional offices in Birmingham and Nottingham, has been ranked 46th in this year’s East Midlands Top 200 survey, produced by accountants Grant Thornton in conjunction with the CBI.

TIS climbed a massive 63 places from 109^th spot in the 2015 ranking, which is an impressive feat as only a quarter of last year’s Top 200 businesses made it through to this year’s list.

The East Midlands Top 200 celebrates the financial performance of the region’s 200 fastest growing companies. It helps to provide insight into the health of the East Midlands economy by ranking businesses based on a three-year period of profit growth.

The Top 200 East Midlands businesses currently have an operating profit of £736 million. This level of growth has enabled the East Midlands' Top 200 companies to create almost 17,000 new jobs since the report’s initial launch, increasing average wages and productivity for the entire East Midlands area.

Achieving this recognition tops off an impressive couple of weeks for TIS, which was crowned ‘Business of the Year’ at the 2016 Mansfield 2020 Business Awards. TIS apprentice Bradley Clifton was also voted ‘Young Apprentice of the Year’ at this year’s awards.

Commenting on the company’s impressive ranking in this year’s Top 200 report, James Twigg, joint managing director of TIS, said:

“Being named one of the fastest growing companies in the East Midlands is a testament to how far we have come as a company over the past few years.

“Few businesses have been able to achieve such a massive climb up the rankings, which has to be attributed to our team and ability to work together.

“We are also pleased to have been part of the reported job growth in the East Midlands. Over the past 12 months, 20 new members of staff have been appointed across all levels of the business and eight apprentices have been recruited to our ever growing team.

“We have exciting plans for the future, with a further 20 new jobs are set to be created for local people over the coming months,” added James.

TIS, which employs 140 people at its headquarters on Oakham Business Park recently recorded the best year in its 65-year history, with sales revenues and profits at an all-time high. The company generated revenues of £13.186m, an increase of 22% on the previous year, with profit before tax also increasing by a massive 58%.

TIS develops some of the most advanced and sophisticated systems for industry, The Ministry of Defence (MoD) and local authorities. It also supplies a wide range of associated products and services from CCTV and access control to audio systems and IT networks.
