Midland's business Shredall wins Environmental Sustainability Award

Nottingham based firm Shredall is celebrating a recent win at the Midlands Family Business Awards as it was recently awarded winner of the Environmental Sustainability category.

Hosted this year at the Athena in Leicester, the annual Midlands Family Business Award showcases several family-run businesses each year, ranging from small businesses to large, multi-million pound enterprises. Split across ten categories, businesses are chosen who hold strong family values and strong succession plans.

Announced as finalists in August 2015, Shredall eagerly awaited the event due to their roots as a family-run business. Modestly started by Lloyd Williams in 1997 from his very own bedroom, Shredall now also features Williams’ son and daughter, Nik Williams and Lucy Shipley, as directors with Nik’s wife, Charlotte Williams, as Marketing and PR manager.

In an inherently wasteful industry, Shredall is committed to environmental sustainability and its recent win at the Family Business Awards now acknowledges this. Amongst some of their sustainable initiatives, Shredall recycle 100% of the paper they shred. Their commitment to the ISO 14000 compliance means they constantly monitor fuel and electric consumption across their business processes.

Shredall also work with Carbon Projects Ltd. to further counteract their fuel emissions. A tree is planted for all new customers that join the company and they also work with overseas organisations whose aims are to help communities around the world plant trees.

Lucy Shipley, managing director of Shredall, said:

“We’re absolutely delighted to have won the environmental sustainability award. We’re constantly evaluating and improving our waste and energy output and to be finally acknowledged for this effort is very rewarding. Our hard work to implement energy efficiency in our workplace has finally paid off.”

To further their environmental sustainability focus, Shredall are now looking to invest in inner-city electric trucks to completely remove their diesel emissions.
