Managing Director of ArtSpace Interior Design Kate Letteriello teamed up with Sales Manager Kenny Lattimore to achieve a stylish and seasonal look for their latest project designing the new show homes at the popular Measham development Nursery Fields.

The pair has now given their top trend tips for this season, to help you get the look for autumn. Now that we are moving out of summer and into the cooler months, there are some fantastic new interior design trends coming to light that can help completely transform your home.

Kate, who has more than 16 years’ experience in interior design, said:

“Interior design is a great way to do something completely different in your home and really utilise the space you have.

“Our current trends this autumn differ a lot from the bold and bright colours used in summer as are much more calming and comforting. We’re also seeing deeper and richer colours come into fashion this season as well as metallics, marble and gold.

“We’ve come up with our top trends for the season that you can easily pick up and do from home.”

Here are the five top trends to keep your home fresh and fashionable this season:

1. Colour

Forest green and various hues of dark green are very in style this new season whether it’s for soft furnishings, wallpaper or decorations . It’s a calming colour and when used with fur throws, textured cushions and thoughtful lighting it can create a warm and cosy feel when coming in from the bitter cold.  Colour is extremely important when looking to redesign your home, if you’re looking to change your look with the trends remember to keep the base of your room in neutral tones and bring in pops of colour with cushions, accessories and artwork and even a painted feature wall.

Kate said:

“My advice for people who don’t like green is maybe consider another jewel colour like teal, mulberry or gold…all of these colours are great for this time of year and very on trend, they create a rich and opulent feel which is great for the dark evenings ahead.”

2. Accessories

Accessorising your home is always a great way to transform each room, and this seasons trends include metallics, a touch of gold, copper and silver all mixed together or used alone can add some depth to your design. Marble and concrete are very on trend with tactile materials adding texture to your space. A cosy throw to your sofa mixed with an eclectic mix of patterned cushions can create a homely feel whilst also looking very stylish.

Remember your home is a reflection of you so take some time out and spend an afternoon filling a collection of frames with photos of friends and family and create a collection on a spare wall…it will make you smile every time you pass it.

3. Designs and patterns

A current trend for designs and patterns is keeping things simple and using block colours throughout your home to keep a certain theme. This can be done through decorations and accessories such a cushions and throws or by having feature walls in your home.

David Wilson Homes recognises that your home is all about expressing yourself so why not choose bold patterns and designs and theme certain rooms around your interests and hobbies?

Kate said:

“For our latest show home, we designed a memorable family area that was circus themed to add some fun, as kids need convincing too when buying houses.

“Plush rugs and fabrics were used to soften the scheme and make it more comfortable for family life, which can easily be done in your own home.”

4. Materials

Marble and concrete has been a lasting trend through summer and is still very in demand coming into autumn. It has been known to be used to accessorise your home but now marble effect is coming into fashion in full force. A huge trend for this season is using marble effect wallpaper or furniture alongside warm copper shades to achieve a classy and stylish look in your home.

5.Lighting

Now that the darker months are drawing in and the clocks are set to go back soon, it’s a good idea to start thinking about your lighting. Stunning floor lamps with large shades can help bring your living room to life whilst chandeliers are still very much in style for adding a bit of glamour to your home.

A top tip from Kate is to use mirrors in your home to reflect the light and invest in feature lights or create ambience with candles. Great lighting can help to change any room.

Kenny Lattimore, Sales Manager at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said:

“Interior design is a huge part of what we do as it’s the first thing people notice about our show homes.

“We love to keep up with the latest trends and use top interior designers like ArtSpace to ensure we communicate our brand through these designs and that the homes are welcoming to homebuyers.

“As we’re drawing into the cooler months now it’s important for people to feel warm and cosy in their home and these trends can help you do exactly that, whilst also helping to transform your home.

“For those looking for a new home in time for Christmas, I’d advise you to get in touch with our sales team who will be able to help you.”
