Derby academics ranked among most cited scientists

Academics at the University of Derby have been ranked amongst the most highly-cited scientists in the world, according to research byStanford University.

 

Eight Derby staff are featured in the top 160,000 cited scientists out of seven million scientists worldwidein the research, which analysed dataacross 22 disciplinesover a period of ten years, between 1996 and 2019.

Stanford University and Elsevier have created the database of 160,000 topscientists, providing dataon the global influence of academic study using a variety of impact metrics such as: citations, h-indexand the co-authorship hm-index.Data was analysed forcareer-long and single year (2019) impact.

Eight currentstaff from Derby are included in the top 4% of scientists (based on the citation year2019):

  • Paul Gilbert, Professor of Clinical Psychologyin the College of Health, Psychology and Social Care
  • Jose Arturo Garza-Reyes, Professor of Operations Management and Head of the Centre for Supply Chain Improvement in the College of Business, Law and Social Science
  • Marc Cowling, Professor of Business Economics and Head of Research & Innovation in the College of Business, Law and Social Sciences
  • David Best, Professor in Criminology in the College of Business, Law and Social Science
  • Stephen Farrall, Professor of Criminology in the College of Business, Law and Social Science
  • Ray Bull, Professor in Criminal Investigation in the College of Business, Law and Social Science
  • Zhiyin Yang, Professor of Aerospace Engineering in the College of Science and Engineering
  • Hugh Rollinson, Emeritus Professor of Earth Science in the College of Science and Engineering

Staff from Derby included in the top 2% of scientists as data based across their career, until the end of 2019, are:
