Nottingham Agency’s European Success After Viral Campaign

A Nottingham based digital PR agency has been shortlisted for five international business awards after a marketing campaign went viral worldwide.

Motive PR made headlines across the world at the end of 2020 with a campaign for travel firm My Baggage which offered bottled fresh air to home sick ex-pats.

The firm offered air bottled in Ireland, Scotland Wales and England with bottles being shipped to homesick Brits as far away as Australia and Argentina.

The move captured the attention of the world’s media, winning TV coverage as far away as the USA and India.

More than 150 news outlets including The Times, CNN, The Guardian, The Sun, Metro and The Daily Mail covered the story worldwide with more than 20,000 people engaging with it on social media.

Now the Nottingham based agency has been recognised for its innovative marketing by judges at the European Content Awards.

The awards recognise the best online marketing by companies across the continent with Motive sharing the spotlight with some of the biggest marketing agencies in Europe.

Motive have been nominated for five awards in the Travel and Leisure Campaign, B2C Content Campaign, Low Budget Campaign, ROI Campaign and Outreach Campaign categories. The winners will be announced at a special event on 18 March.

Motive’s MD Steve McComish said:

“It’s been a tough time for the travel sector with the pandemic hitting tourism services particularly hard.

“We wanted to cut through the gloom and offer some light relief with our campaign for My Baggage so we came up with a fun idea which we knew would appeal to international media.

“The idea worked because it highlighted what the client does which is to ship anything and everything to anywhere in the world.

“Once we pitched the story out it seemed to take on a life of its own and even we were surprised by how much interest there was from every corner of the world.

“It’s fantastic to see the impact this has had on the client’s business with organic traffic and enquiries both sharply up.

“It just goes to show that even smaller brands can achieve massive results through creative marketing.

“We are delighted the campaign has been recognised as one of the most creative and innovative European marketing campaigns of the past 12 months.”
