Charity quiz organised in aid of Leicester life skills centre

A charity quiz night has been announced at the Leicester Tigers’ Welford Road Stadium to support a local charity that teaches children of Leicestershire and Rutland life skills for staying safe on and offline.

The quiz and curry night will take place at 7pm on Thursday September 6th and costs £10 per person, including entry to the quiz and a curry. Proceeds from the event will go towards - Warning Zone, a unique and interactive learning experience that teaches thousands of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland children life skills every year.

Sponsored by Bray & Bray Solicitors, proceeds from the quiz will help fund general maintenance and facilities at the charity.

Kelly Ferguson, a personal injury associate solicitor at Bray & Bray explains why the firm was so keen to support the fundraising initiative:

“Warning Zone does fantastic work with the youngsters in Leicestershire and Rutland.  We’re proud to be sponsoring this event. We hope to help raise plenty of money so that the staff and volunteers at the centre have access to improved facilities to continue their invaluable work with children and young people.”

Warning Zone is located on Frog Island in Leicester city centre.  As part of the project, trained professionals and volunteers educate young people on understanding risks and consequences, peer pressure, anti-social behaviour, grooming, cyber-bullying and more.

Each year in England and Wales, close to 300 children under 15 die from accidental injury. 120,000 need extensive treatment for injuries and approximately 10,000 suffer a permanent disability. “It’s essential that we take action to try and reduce these types of unnecessary accidents,” adds Kelly. “Warning Zone is one of a kind and is completely unique to Leicestershire and Rutland, supporting our young people in the specific challenges that they face.”

Warning Zone combines messages on personal safety and online safety in a hands-on stimulating experience, which helps prepare youngsters for increased independence and their transition into early adolescence. The charity welcomes over 250 schools and 10,500 pupils on full day trips every year to learn about essential life skills, in addition to their latest ‘on the road’ show visiting high schools to deliver a specific message about online safety.

Teams from local businesses will be in attendance showing their support for the charity.

Bray & Bray, which was established in 1893, employs over 100 people across its four Leicestershire offices. The firm offers a full range of legal services, including personal injury.
