RECORD £10M TURNOVER FOR NOTTINGHAMSHIRE CONCRETE PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT SUPPLIER

RECORD £10M TURNOVER FOR NOTTINGHAMSHIRE CONCRETE PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT SUPPLIER

Leading Nottinghamshire-based concrete production equipment supplier, ConSpare, has revealed record-breaking turnover, with group sales surpassing £10million for the first time.

The results show 27% growth over the last three years, with the past year having marked a significant period of transformation for ConSpare and sister company ProSpare.

The turnover milestone was achieved during a year in which the businesses were relocated to a new state-of-the-art premises based at Castlewood Business Park in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, business operating systems were modernised, and 12 new members of staff were recruited to join the team.

James Bullock, managing director of ConSpare, said:

“I am proud to be able to report an excellent year of progress in 2022. Having been based in Pinxton for over 45 years, it was a big decision to relocate the company. As our results for the year demonstrate, our decision has paid off with turnover in both group companies going from strength-to-strength.

“We also set ourselves the challenging task of upgrading our back-office systems to coincide with the move, implementing highly efficient paperless processes which have transformed how the business operates. With these new foundations in place, both of our businesses are now in a strong position to develop further in the coming years.”

The company’s new purpose-built facility is designed with increased stock availability in mind. Warehouse capacity is now 400% larger than at the company’s former Pinxton premises – with stock now totalling over £1.8 million. This reinforces ConSpare’s position as the largest stockholder of specialist concrete batch plant equipment and spare parts under one roof in the UK, with over 150 tonnes of spare parts and components available off the shelf.

Designed to fit the needs of a modern workforce, the new building has also increased office capacity to cater for an ever-growing team and the semi-open plan layout also allows for better team collaboration.

David Bullock, operations director at ConSpare, added:

“We didn’t just set out to build a bigger warehouse and offices. We have created something different, a centre of excellence with a demonstration area and meeting facilities which allow us to host best practice seminars for the concrete industry.

“The offices were also designed to facilitate a larger technical department with new 3D scanning, drawing and printing capability which has been a real game-changer in terms of new product development and quality control. The design of this workspace now more accurately reflects a company of our size and calibre.”

In a commitment to sustainability, the new premises combined with a host of other initiatives, such as adopting paperless processes, have significantly reduced ConSpare’s environmental impact. The company has replaced oil and gas with electric air conditioning for heating and cooling, which combined with high specification thermal insulation is forecast to reduce total energy consumption by 70%.

To round off a successful 2022, James was appointed president of the Materials Handling Engineers Association (MHEA) at the BULKEX conference in October, having been an active member of the executive committee since 2015.

James added:

“Achieving record turnover figures during a year of such change demonstrates the strength of both of our businesses. The whole team at ConSpare and ProSpare have gone above and beyond and I would like to thank everyone who has supported us in achieving such a fantastic milestone.”
