OWLC joins Loughborough University Science and Enterprise Park’s Energy and Low Carbon cluster

The University is delighted to welcome OWLC (Offshore Wind Logistics and Construction) to the Science and Enterprise Park (LUSEP). The company, founded in London in 2014, relocated its headquarters to the Advanced Technology Innovation Centre (ATIC) earlier this month.

OWLC is a renewable energy disrupter that has identified game-changing innovations – preparing the offshore wind industry for future low-risk, low-cost, multi-gigawatt construction as well as fleet operation and maintenance strategies.

Its globally patented Gravity Tripod™ offers reductions in project delivery costs and times as well as almost zero environmental impact.

An innovative concrete gravity base foundation for offshore wind turbines – the tripod is designed for mass manufacture, rapid assembly and easy installation.

It requires less seabed preparation than other similar foundations and needs no piling. Suitable for a range of seabed sediment types and turbine loads with a capacity of up to 25 MW, it has a staggeringly long lifespan – of up to a century.

The company is confident that the tripod is ready to play a key role in reducing the world’s carbon emissions.

Meanwhile, OWLC’s consulting arm provides expert support and insight to industry stakeholders – spanning owners, developers, the supply chain, insurers and certification bodies – on a range of matters including project management, business plans and economics, business processes, and technical specifications.
