East Midlands estate agent expands into South Nottinghamshire with new hire for 2022

East Midlands-based estate agent The Agent has expanded into South Nottinghamshire after taking on a new regional representative to meet growing demand across the country.

The announcement comes on the back of record housing sales across the nation during last year’s Stamp Duty holiday and the number of first-time buyers in 2021 reaching a 19-year high. With 408,300 new buyers stepping foot on the property ladder in 2021, this is a 35% increase on 2020 figures, according to the Yorkshire Building Society.

Launching in 2020 during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Agent offers a one-to-one estate agency service that encourages their agents to work from home, minimising non-essential travel and working as paperless as possible.  This is part of a company effort to demonstrate a clear social and environmental responsibility while making the buying and selling process easier for clients.

Adding to the growing team’s industry expertise is Jason Swift, who has almost 20 years’ experience in the sector. Having moved to Nottingham in 2016 after working in the London financial district for a number of years, Mr Swift is excited to join The Agent’s team.

Speaking of his appointment as The Agent’s partner for South Nottinghamshire, he said:

“The Agent does most of its work digitally, which makes this a fantastic way of working - without the constraints of a physical office. We’re not lost in corporate red tape and our hours are flexible to meet the needs of clients. This gives the team freedom to keep getting sales agreed when many agents are shut.

“I’m delighted to join such a forward-thinking company.”

Steve Jeffries, Co-Founder of The Agent, commented:

“Taking on experienced industry professionals like Jason is a great boost for us. Setting up and embarking on a new business during lockdown was a daunting task, but we’ve created a thriving enterprise that benefits the local community, the environment, and the work/life balance of each of our agents.

“It’s an incredibly exciting time for the housing market, especially with so many new buyers on the ladder and many wanting a change of scenery after successive lockdowns in 2020. I’m confident that our growing team is prepared to tackle 2022 and the evolving market head-on.”
