Amazon announces opening of new delivery station in Derby in time for Christmas

Amazon Logistics has announced that its new delivery station in Derby has opened ahead of the festive shopping period. The 12,000 square metre building is now fully operational, serving customers across the region.

The delivery station has created 98 permanent jobs offering competitive pay, comprehensive benefits and leading training and development opportunities in a safe, modern and engaging work environment.

The opening of the delivery station in Derby will also create new driver opportunities for independent delivery service partners and Amazon Flex delivery partners.

Speaking at the launch of the new site, Amazon Derby Delivery Station Manager, Adele Pyle, said:

“We’re excited to open the doors to our new delivery station in Derby, just in time for our first Christmas. The team at Amazon in Derby is ready to deliver for our customers ahead of a great festive shopping season, while also creating local job opportunities across a wide range of disciplines in a safe and welcoming environment.”

One of Amazon location’s new employees who’ll be helping deliver for customers this Christmas is Pragati Bhandari, who works as a shift manager at the delivery station.

Before joining Amazon, Pragati studied law and worked for a year as a rent and legal protection co-ordinator at an estate agent. She enjoys the level of responsibility and trust placed on employees at Amazon, which translates into delivering smiles for customers.

She said:

“I joined Amazon because the company offers competitive pay, fantastic benefits and a host of training and development programmes to help me further my career. I’m excited that our delivery station in Derby is now open and I’m looking forward to helping put smiles on our customers’ faces this Christmas.”
