BB&J Commercial Partners Acquire Burton Agents

Partners within leading commercial property consultancy BB&J Commercial have acquired a long-established company in Burton-on-Trent with a view to expanding its services across East Staffordshire, North Leicestershire and South Derbyshire.

Rushton Hickman will continue to trade under its present name with directors Paul Rushton and Richard Fairey remaining integral parts of the business, joined now by Mark Richardson, Graham Bancroft and Chris Birds.

BB&J Commercial, which operates across the East Midlands, was established in 2010 as a standalone commercial property division of the residential agency Boxall Brown & Jones, which was founded in 1990.

Similarly, Rushton Hickman was originally formed in March 1994 to handle letting and sales of both commercial and residential property but subsequently focused purely on providing a high-quality commercial property consultancy service.

BB&J Commercial’s Graham Bancroft remarked:

“We share many synergies with Rushton Hickman with excellent reputations for providing a high-quality commercial property consultancy services in our respective areas.

“The acquisition of the business was a natural progression for us as we were keen to build on their established commercial agency and property management offering and other services. We are now looking to roll this out over a wider area to both existing and new clients.”

Mark Richardson from BB&J Commercial added:

“Likewise we are very excited about further building the Rushton Hickman brand by using the additional expertise from BB&J Commercial.

“This will enable the company to expand its service offering – including professional RICS valuations for bank lending, pension funds and other purposes.

“It is therefore very much business as usual for the company with the added expertise from our award-winning team.”

Paul Rushton said:

“The acquisition by the partners of BB&J Commercial and the additional expertise that the directors there is good news both for Rushton Hickman and the commercial property market across East Staffordshire, North Leicestershire and South Derbyshire.

“We therefore welcome this acquisition and look forward to working with Graham, Mark and Chris to continue to be at the heart of the commercial property profession in this area.”
