Charity rides high with Russells donation

Local life-saving charity, Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire Blood Bikes (SSBB) has received a generous £7,500 donation from Burton-based manufacturer, Russell Roof Tiles.

The roof tile manufacturer, which employs 100 staff at its two Burton sites (on Wetmore Lane and Nicholson Way,) is dedicated to supporting important and charitable causes within its local community.

The volunteer-led charity transports vital blood products, blood samples, medication and other life-critical supplies to local hospitals via motorbike.

Having supported Blood Bikes since 2015, Russell Roof Tiles’ tireless fundraising has raised thousands of pounds for the charity over the five years. This has enabled the purchase of much-needed bikes and equipment enabling its volunteers to continue carrying out the vital life-saving work within the community.

A cheque was presented to Helen Bundy, past Chair of SSBB and Volunteer, Paul Goldsmith by Managing Director at Russell Roof Tiles, Andrew Hayward.

He said:

“Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire Blood Bikes is a vital organisation saving thousands of lives across our local region. However, to ensure it is able to continuing delivering its exceptional service, the charity has to rely on invaluable donations.

“At our Annual Big Quiz, we raised more money than ever before and as a result, I am delighted to hand over a cheque for £7,500. We look forward to continuing our fundraising efforts in 2020”

Helen added:

“We are extremely grateful for the dedication and support Russell Roof Tiles’ management and staff have shown us over the years. Their fundraising on our behalf is truly breath-taking, resulting in the purchase of two liveried blood bikes and their running costs. Their generosity enables us to continue to offer our urgent service in support of our local NHS.”

Russell Roof Tiles is a leading independent pitched roof tile manufacturer supplying products for the top housebuilders and high-profile social housing and commercial projects.  The company produces thousands of tiles every week that are used on roofs across the UK, for all of the UK’s premier housebuilders and developers.
