IT firm goes continental in four-country challenge

Employees from award-winning IT solutions provider RDS Global are set to take on the gruelling Pavestone Rally next month – with the aim of raising £2,000 for the Rally’s chosen charities; The Rainy Day Trust, Teenage Cancer Trust and Variety.

Phil Harvey and Andy Flinn – Managing Director and CEO respectively – will take on the three-day challenge, which will see them set off from Reims in Northern France on course for Lake Como in Italy.

En route, the pair will pass through France and on to Stuttgart in Germany, Salzburg in Austria and Venice in Italy before finishing the journey at Lake Como.

As well as various challenges – not to mention the mandatory fancy dress – the whole trip has to be completed in a roadworthy, legal car purchased for under £500.

In fact, the car Phil and Andy will be travelling in is a Vauxhall Signum, purchased for just £480 with over 110,000 miles on the clock.

Starting on 5 September, the three-day mission is one Phil and Andy are certainly passionate about – given RDS Global’s proud roots in the automotive industry and the three fantastic charities chosen for all donations to go to; Teenage Cancer Trust, Variety Children and The Rainy Day Trust.

In the past three years, the Pavestone Rally – which has gained well-known and celebrity supporters far and wide from Olympics legend Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, former politician John Prescott to TV personality Nick Knowles to name just three – has raised over £325,000 for good causes.

It is delivered in association with the Builders’ Merchants Federation (BMF) – who RDS have a longstanding relationship with; providing them and their members with IT and Cyber Security solutions.

Phil Harvey said:

“The automotive industry is one that I and the company are passionate about so this challenge is right up our street but we know it will be anything but easy.

“Here at RDS Global, we’re passionate about supporting our community and the wider ambitions of charities and organisations who make a fantastic difference to peoples’ lives.

“The Pavestone Rally is a fantastic way of achieving this and we’re delighted to be doing our bit – let’s just hope we make it to Lake Como!”
