Housebuilder implements sustainable travel at Leicestershire Developments

A leading developer is implementing dedicated cycle paths at three of its housing developments to offer Leicestershire residents a more sustainable way to travel.
The carefully designed routes were created by David Wilson Homes to help benefit the environment through the option to limit the usage of private cars at its developments Thorpebury in the Limes in Thorpebury, Grange View in Hugglescote, and The Skylarks near Loughborough.
Ahead of the Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel, the developer is encouraging alternative forms of transport by making residents aware of the several pedestrian and cycle routes which provide access to the town centres and local schools.
The campaign, which runs from Monday 20th to Friday 31st March, encourages pupils to ditch car or bus journeys in favour of walking, cycling, or scooting to school. This is with the aim of promoting active journeys and being more environmentally friendly.
Off Barkbythorpe Road at Thorpebury in the Limes – which launched in November last year – the housebuilder is implementing footpaths and a cycleway through onsite public open space areas.
At Grange View, off Grange Road, David Wilson Homes is set to deliver a three metre wide footpath and cycle link along Percival Way and Summers Road. These two roads form the main connections to the existing highway network and into other developments.
At The Skylarks in East Leake, another three metre wide footpath and cycle link is being installed along the route of the existing public rights of way, which runs north to south through the centre of the development.
The first third of the route forms part of the entrance highway into the development, and then cuts through the central open space and continues adjacent to the new school up to the site boundary.
