Housebuilder's donation enables care home residents in Leicestershire to experience the theatre

A Coalville-based housing developer has donated theatre tickets to five care homes in Leicestershire to enable residents to experience the latest productions and enjoy their favourite shows.

David Wilson Homes – which is building new homes across the county – provided care homes close to its developments with 100 tickets to the Curve Theatre, which is based in the cultural quarter in Leicester city centre.

Among the care homes which received the donations were Peaker Park Care Village in Market Harborough, The Old School House in Thringstone, The Grange Nursing and Residential Home in Saddington, and Aylesham Court Care Home and Abbey House Residential Care Home in Leicester.

The developer’s donation was provided to help elderly residents across the county enjoy and experience the diverse and inspiring arts facilities the city centre has to offer.

Shirley Dagley, Activity Co-ordinator at The Grange Nursing and Residential Home, said:

“We took six residents to see Billy Elliot the Musical and they were completely over the moon with the whole experience. Many had not been out since the beginning of the pandemic and really enjoyed the show as they could relate to that era.

“We would like to thank David Wilson Homes for a fantastic day out, that they are still talking about now.”
