Northamptonshire animal rescue charity receives £1,000 donation from local housebuilder

An animal rescue charity in Little Irchester has been the recipient of a £1,000 donation from local housebuilder Mulberry Homes, thanks to its Mulberry Community Chest.

Based at Pine Tree Farm on London Road, Animals In Need is an organisation dedicated to rescuing sick, injured, trapped and distressed wild and domestic animals, and was founded 32 years ago by Roy Marriott.

Animals In Need were delighted to receive the £1,000 donation from Mulberry Homes, which is building new homes in the village at its Steeple View Chase development, off Farndish Road, which recently opened its brand-new showhomes to the public.

The donation will be spent on normal upkeep of Animals In Need, and on creating a sensory garden for the influx of dogs the charity has seen over the past couple of years, which will include specialist equipment and materials, allowing the dogs to enjoy fun time with enrichment areas and interactive toys.

These efforts will keep the dogs happy and make them easier to rehome, and keeping them active will play a vital role in the animals’ physical and mental wellbeing. The area will also allow potential adopters to see how the dogs interact with other animals and humans, and make an informed decision about adoption.

This is the second donation Mulberry Homes have given to the charity, following a £700 contribution which was made in January 2022.

Annie Marriot, Manager at Animals In Need, said:

“Everyone at Animals In Need is truly grateful for this kind donation, times are tougher than anything we have ever experienced over past years.

“The shelter is full to capacity; it is literally one animal gets adopted and another is here waiting for its space. Incoming donations are down, understandably as living costs have gone up so much people don’t have spare money to donate.”

Kerry Jones, Sales and Marketing Director at Mulberry Homes, said:

“We’re so excited to be supporting Animals In Need for the second time, through The Mulberry Community Chest.

“They’re doing such wonderful work in the local community, and are a very deserving charity with a highly dedicated team, who work hard to support and aid local animals in any way they can.”
