Local Businesses Come Up Trumps For Charity Anniversary

A number of local businesses have come together to help Derbyshire’s specialist child exploitation charity, Safe and Sound, celebrate their milestone anniversary.

Safe and Sound are holding a celebration event at Reach Events in Pride Park on Saturday October 15 with catering provided by Butler’s Pantry and sponsorship by Melbourne Print.

Among the businesses who have sponsored the charity throughout its 20th anniversary year are BB&J Commercial, Wathall’s funeral directors, Invictus Communications, Derbion, Cosy Direct, So Kombucha, Butler’s Pantry, Logic Barn, Creationz Marketing, NK Motors Kia business, Daybreak Rotary Club and Element Digital Engineering.

The evening will include presentations of awards to staff, young people and supporters and the shortlist includes Wathall’s, Colleague Box, Dains Accountants, Loates HR Consultancy, Cosy Direct and Rotarians in Derby.

Guest of honour at the event will be Sheila Taylor MBE who founded Safe and Sound and who is now CEO of NWG.

Safe and Sound CEO Tracy Harrison said:

“As always, the Derby business community has come up trumps to help us mark 20 years of our amazing charity and we are very grateful to everyone for their support.

“We look forward to celebrating this milestone alongside staff, trustees and supporters both past and present as well as some of the young people and families who have re-built their lives thanks to the work of Safe and Sound.

“I hope that this event will not only celebrate the progress we have made in the past 20 years but also raise awareness that every child and young person – regardless of who they are, where they live or their family circumstances - is vulnerable to grooming and exploitation both online and in person.

“That is why we are committed to remaining highly visible in local communities – whether that is in local parks or at schools – to highlight the dangers, provide support and give reassurance that we are here to help and protect young people whenever they need us.”
