Gigabit Networks unites with Derby Rugby Football Club in a new sponsorship deal

Derby-based broadband provider Gigabit Networks has underlined its commitment to the local community by sponsoring Derby Rugby Football Club - its second sporting tie-in of the season.

The collaborative deal, which is expected to be the start of a longstanding relationship between the two organisations, is inspired by Gigabit Networks’ mission to bring new connectivity benefits and award-winning levels of service to the Derby community.

The deal will see a billboard advertising the firm taking pride of place beside the pitch at its ground in Haslam’s Lane, but there is also a benefit for the rugby club members, who will enjoy exclusive offers on full fibre home broadband providing they live in the areas of the city that Gigabit currently serves.

In return, for every order placed Gigabit Networks will make a significant contribution to club funds.

Earlier this year Gigabit also entered a sponsorship deal with Derbyshire County Cricket Club, demonstrating its commitment to building local relations as a regional CityFibre Champion.

Mike Carr, commercial chair of DRFC, said:

“Through this sponsorship, Gigabit Networks will provide access to a host of benefits and rewards for our club, its members and our supporters.

“We cannot wait to embark on this journey with Gigabit as already they have shown a great deal of commitment to serving the local community.”

Since its launch in Derby last year, Gigabit Networks has been working alongside CityFibre, the UK’s second largest full fibre digital infrastructure provider, to develop more than 280 Gigabit cities and towns across the UK.

Dan Ilett, co-founder of Gigabit Networks, said:

“We have been focusing our efforts on building long-standing partnerships with organisations and businesses that share the same passion for community development as we do so we’re very pleased to be sponsoring Derby City Rugby Club.”

Through full fibre infrastructure, made up of 100% fibre optic cables, Gigabit Networks services are faster, more efficient and more reliable than legacy copper networks, with all residential customers experiencing download speeds of up to 930Mbps.

As the digital divide in Derby improves, with more residents and businesses in the city having access to ground-breaking connectivity, Gigabit Networks is making plans to launch into other cities within the Midlands soon.
