LEADING HOMEBUILDER DONATES TO NORTHAMPTONSHIRE CHARITY SUPPORTING THE ELDERLY

A Northamptonshire charity has received a £1,000 donation from Barratt and David Wilson Homes to help towards its work providing support for the more vulnerable and sometimes isolated members of the community.

Vine Community Trust specialises in a warm and friendly environment, reducing loneliness and supplying nourishing meals, all prepared on the premises. This facility also gives respite to family members as well as their clients. The charity offers an in-house day service and a meals-on-wheels service for clients at home. The latter service was invaluable during lockdown as it became a lifeline of a friendly face during days of isolation.

There is a varied range of home cooked meals and refreshments for its users, while having accessible vehicles to ensure that those who want to visit Marlow House are transported safely to and from home.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ donation will help to ensure Vine Community Trust can continue its work in the community. The Trust’s in-house day service includes, transport to and from Marlow House and an array of activities such as armchair exercises, arts & crafts and visiting entertainment. There is a “state-of-the-art” bathing facility which enables supported bathing.

Nominated by the housebuilder’s employees Mick and Ana Coulson, who volunteer with the charity, the generous Barratt and David Wilson Homes donation will help to fund the day to day running of Marlow House and provide much needed items on their ‘Wish List’.

Pamela Goodman, Chairman at Vine Community Trust, said:

“The fact that the company has put this scheme together is just brilliant. Each charity that receives this money would be over the moon and so are we.”

“Each donation is indefinable with its magnitude for the work we do. We are so grateful for everything we are given. “

“We can barely thank Mick and Ana and Barratt and David Wilson Homes enough for actually putting this money into our hands as it will go so far in helping us provide our care.”

Amer Alkhalil, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Northampton, said:

“We are so pleased to be able to support Vine Community Trust and the important work they are doing.”

“It is important to us a leading housebuilder to recognise and support local charities and organisations who help the communities near our developments.”
