COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS RECEIVE BOOST FROM AMAZON TEAM

The Amazon fulfilment centre in Kegworth has donated more than £1,000 to three charities in the East Midlands.

Women’s Aid Leicestershire received a donation of £700, while me&dee and East Midlands Immediate Care each received donations of £500 following nominations from team members at the fulfilment centre.

Women’s Aid Leicestershire provides services for victims of domestic abuse.

me&dee provides support for adults and children facing life-threatening conditions. The charity helps give families a break from the daily stress of pain, hospitals and financial worries.

East Midlands Immediate Care is an independent, not-for-profit, registered charity of specialist volunteer doctors, based across the East Midlands who assist the East Midlands Ambulance Service.

Amy Duggins, who nominated me&dee for the donation, said:

“I’m so pleased me&dee has been selected for this donation. I’ve seen the difference that this charity makes, and I hope this donation gives the staff and volunteers a boost.”

Celia Syme, General Manager at Amazon in Kegworth, said:

“At Amazon, we’re passionate about supporting our community and I’m pleased we could lend these brilliant East Midlands charities a helping hand.”

Mark Harrison from me&dee said:

“On behalf of everyone at me&dee, I want to thank Amy and the rest of the Amazon team for their support. The families we help, both adults and children, who are facing life changing, life shortening and terminal conditions would certainly miss out on making special memories together if it wasn’t for donations like this.”

The donations to all three charities were made as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities around its operating locations in the UK.

Amazon is also providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering more than five million healthy breakfasts to families around the UK.
