Hardy Signs team climb Snowdon in aid of the YMCA

On the 29th of October 2021, the Burton and District YMCA will be holding their annual sleepout to raise much-needed funds for those in crisis and the homeless. Every year, at Hardy Signs, our team will raise money by taking part in the sleepout, this year we wanted a little more of a challenge.

Chloe Deville, Marketing Assistant, came up with the idea of climbing Snowdon. This is obviously very different to the sleepout, but the idea was to push the team into doing something none of us had before.

In just under 3 weeks, the plan was created to take the Llanberis path in Snowdonia up 1,085 metres high (3,560 ft).

The team set off from Hardy Signs at 5 am and made it to Wales for around half past 8. By 9 am, they had set off on their way up the mountain. The views were great until about halfway up when they carried on through the clouds. By midday, they’d reached the top of the mountain where they celebrated the long hike up.

After a total of 6 hours altogether, the HS team had officially made it up and down Snowdon. So far the team have raised £1,655.90 with the aim of raising £2,000 by the sleepout at the end of October. The money raised contributes to an array of different things from replacement birth certificates so they can register for GP Surgeries, Dental Practices etc., bedding, hot meals, counselling sessions, move out packs and much more
