Champions (UK) plc sponsors Rothley 10k event

Alongside lead sponsor, wealth management firm Mattioli Woods plc, Midland-based brand agency Champions (UK) plc has been announced as a new sponsor for 2021’s Rothley10k charity event.

On 14 September, both participants and spectators will gather once again at Woodgate, outside of the Babbington Court Care Home at 6pm in a bid to raise money for LOROS, whose hospice provides compassionate care and support to terminally ill adult patients, their family and carers across Leicestershire and Rutland.

The Rothley10k takes place each year, and over the last three years, the event has raised more than £300,000 for a number of local charities, including LOROS, Rainbows, and Age UK, to name but a few.

And, whilst Covid-19 put a stop to the 2020 event, this year’s race will cohere with government guidelines, ensuring that safety remains a priority.

This year’s event is even more special as it is dedicated to Colin Favell, who sadly passed away in February 2020.

As the founder of the Rothley10k, Colin was instrumental to its success, and the entire community is committed to remembering his dedication, enthusiasm and love for the event as they dust off their running shoes.

And after what has been a difficult and turbulent 18 months for the charity sector, the Rothley10k has a number of high-profile sponsors.

Lead sponsor Mattioli Woods plc has a long-standing working relationship with national award-winning agency Champions (UK) plc, and the wealth management firm is thrilled with the announcement of the sponsorship.

Ian Mattioli CEO at Mattioli Woods said:

“The whole team is absolutely delighted to have Champions on board as one of this year’s sponsors.

“We’ve worked with Champions for a number of years now, so it is great to have their ongoing support in other areas of our work, too.”

And Matthew Hayes, managing director of Champions (UK) plc also expressed his joy at being a main sponsor for the Rothley10k.

He said:

“We couldn’t be happier to be sponsoring this year’s Rothley10k event. It’s been a difficult year for everybody but even more so for the charity sector, so it is great to able to show our support.”

The team at Champions aren’t just supporting the event though, with many of the firm's employees also taking part in the race.

“The Rothley10k race raises money for such a good cause, and I am immensely proud to have members of the Champions family taking part and many of us will also be there cheering everybody on,” Matthew continued.

For anyone else wanting to take part in the Rothley10k, you can do so by registering online by 7 September, with all proceeds and 100% of the ticket price being donated to LOROS.
