Leicester, UK:Sturgess Jaguar Leicester has today served up a car-full of crucial tennis equipment to the Matt Hampson Foundation, as part of Jaguar UK’s nationwide campaign with The Championships, Wimbledon 2021 to establish the next generation of tennis talent.

The campaign kicked off in June with a surprise visit to Malmesbury Primary School’s playground by tennis ambassador Kyle Edmund and TV presenter, author and mental health advocate Frankie Bridge, replicating the famous grounds of SW19. Now, Jaguar UK’s tennis kit drop is touring the nation and Sturgess Jaguar Leicester is the latest to join in support.

This nationwide initiative by Jaguar engages withlocal schoolsand communities,donating tennis nets, rackets and balls that will encourage children topartake in the physical activity recommended to help them recover from a year lost to the pandemic.

Chris Sturgess, Group Chairman of Sturgess of Leicester said:

“Like everyone in the country we’ve been transfixed by the action on the courts at Wimbledon this year, and we’re only too happy to share some of our enthusiasm with the local community. The donation of this equipment shows the important role tennis can play for those people who are recovering from a life changing sporting injury. The Foundation does incredible work in this field and all of us at Sturgess Jaguar Leicester would like to thank Jaguar UK for making this very generous donation which will help further the brilliant work done by Matt and the whole team at The Get Busy Living Centre.”

[Chris Sturgess arrived at the Matt Hampson Foundation in a special Wimbledon-branded all-electric Jaguar I-PACE stocked full of tennis gear.  [Chris] handed over the crucial equipment to Tommy Cawston, CEO of the Matt Hampson Foundation who emphasised the impact this donation would have on those currently receiving support and injury rehabilitation within the Matt Hampson Foundation.

This tennis equipment will bring real joy and make a meaningful difference to us and our beneficiaries. We are always encouraging our beneficiaries to try new sports and practicing tennis skills can really help them along the recovery journey.”

The Matt Hampson Foundation aims to provide advice, support, relief and/or treatment for anyone suffering serious injury or disability which has arisen from any cause, but in particular from sport, sporting activity or any other form of physical education or recreation. The Foundation offers expert physiotherapy and specialised personal training from its state-of-the-art gym, in the rolling Leicestershire countryside,as well as nutrition and health advice.

On Jaguar’s nationwide initiative, Rawdon Glover, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover UK added:

“The recent pandemic has brought huge disruption to people’s lives. In many cases people are much less active than before. With everything unlocking, we at Jaguar are wanting to encourage exercise and the promote the enjoyment of playing sport collectively. Through our partnership with The All England Lawn Tennis Club, we are proud to be delivering a national programme that will help build a tennis legacy to communities who need support the most.”
