NOTTINGHAM CHARITY BACK IN BUSINESS WITH OPENING OF NEW PUBLIC FACILITY

RADFORD CARE GROUP is finally inviting people to make use of its brand new £850K headquarters, which has been mothballed for several months due to Covid restrictions.

It is hoped that the building at 25 Prospect Street can help the local community to recover from the effects of the pandemic. For the first time, other organisations can now hire the space for a range of activities – including dances, parties, conferences, training and exercise classes.

The charity is still fundraising for the facility, which hasn’t been fully used since it launched last autumn. At that time, it was the only day-care facility for older people that was fully open in Nottingham.

Jill Davies, Chief Executive at Radford Care Group, said:

“The coronavirus pandemic has highlighted the importance of togetherness and community support, so we’re delighted to be able to make that happen once more.

“The centre is a real public asset, with the fantastic transformation made to the facility by O’Keeffe Building Services - who were the Family Business Award winners for Construction and Property Excellence in 2019. We’re desperate to see it used at the heart of our community for many years to come.”

It’s hoped that activities can return to normal from July 19, when pandemic restrictions are due to be lifted.

The charity would like to hear from people who are interested in using 25 Prospect Street and are encouraging people to take a look round the site. The state-of-the-art eco-friendly building has indoor and outdoor space, with two kitchens and private parking to ensure that functional and accessibility needs are met.

During lockdown, Radford Care Group’s core services have operated on a scaled-down basis, providing friendship and support for people aged 50+ from Nottingham and beyond.

Jill added:

“We’ve made sure that everyone who needs our support has received at least one day of care per week, which has been a lifeline to people that we help, their carers and, most certainly, for us as well.”

Radford Care Group relies heavily on fundraising activities, sponsorships and volunteers. Room bookings for 25 Prospect Street will add to the £702k already raised to meet the cost of the new building - the majority of which has come through a ‘buy a brick’ scheme that is still open to the public from as little as a £5 donation.
