Return of Leicestershire Community Awards - Furnley House

Nominations are now open for the Leicestershire Community Champions Awards 2021. Launched by the Furnley House Foundation in 2020 at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, the awards celebrate the endeavours of Leicestershire individuals and organisations who continually go above and beyond to help and improve the lives of those in need. They specifically recognise those unsung heroes, whose work and dedication make a massive difference to the local area but may otherwise go unnoticed.

The Furnley House Foundation is the brainchild of Furnley House, a leading Leicestershire independent financial and mortgage adviser, created to improve the lives of those less fortunate.

Nominations will remain open until Friday 30th July. The categories are as follows:

  • Charity of the Year
  • Charity Employee of the Year
  • Young Fundraiser of the Year
  • Fundraiser of the Year
  • Environmental Project of the Year
  • Community Spirit Business Champion
  • Community Spirit Individual Champion
  • Community Event
  • Community Organisation
  • Tracey Miller Achievement Award

Winners will be announced on the evening on Thursday 18th November.

Due to the pandemic, last year’s awards were digital, with over 500 households in attendance. It is anticipated that it will be a live event this year.

The winner of the headline Charity of the Year award will receive a grant of £5000 as well as well an invite to our next Summer Ball. Last year this was awarded to the Midland Langar Seva Society.

Simon Winfield, Managing Director of Red Monkey Play and Chairman of the Furnley House Foundation said

‘The LCC Awards 2020 were a great success. We’re always excited to hear about the work of fantastic people of Leicestershire and we’re looking forward to this years nominations and reading what I anticipate will be some truly inspirational stories.’

Ginda Basra from the Midland Langar Seva Society added

‘We were delighted to win the Charity of the Year Award and receive recognition for our dedicated team of staff and volunteers.

‘We used the grant to purchase a storage unit so we can expand our operations in the city and the Furnley House Foundation have continued to support us with a shoebox appeal and collecting items for the homeless.’
