Spring Back to Walesby Forest this April!

Families are once again able to experience adventure in Nottinghamshire’s Sherwood Forest as outdoor activity centre Walesby Forest prepares to reopen its 250 acres from Monday 12th April.
Like all non-essential businesses, Walesby Forest was forced to close when COVID-19 put the UK into its third lockdown in January. Since that time, we’ve been unable to welcome visitors, host our much-loved seasonal events, allow group camping experiences, or welcome larger school and scout bookings.
But with a range of businesses including non-essential stores, outdoor attractions, and self-contained lets and camping trips being allowed to operate from April 12th, the centre is delighted to be able to announce that it will be opening its doors once again in a limited capacity.
Until 17th May, there will be limited public camping, outdoor bar access, lodge bookings for single households only, and of course, access to over 40 activities through bookings only.
Chief Executive Officer Guy Laurie explains how the whole team is feeling about the ease in the lockdown measures.
“We are delighted to finally be able to welcome our visitors back, just in time for the Spring season!”
“As a relatively low-risk business, operating in over 250 acres of land, Walesby really is a safe place to be for families and households alike,”

“For households visiting our lodges or camping, they will have access to our self-catering lodges and will be provided with ample space for socially distanced camping and caravanning on a first-come, first-served basis,”
“We’ve taken the decision to offer free cancellation at this time - we only ask for payments to be made in full 24 hours prior to visiting. This adds some flexibility and peace of mind in case circumstances change or families suddenly contract the virus. Of course, if households do have any symptoms of coronavirus then we would kindly ask them not to visit and cancel any bookings with us until such a time where it is safe for them to rebook.”
Additional changes will be made to Walesby’s offering from 17th May in line with the government’s roadmap. From this date, visitors will have access to full public camping, school and youth group camping trips, full bar and food access, and be able to purchase day activity passes.
“With the lockdown measures easing considerably in the coming months, one thing still remains a priority and that is the safety and wellbeing of our visitors,” explains Guy.
“Being able to offer the public a safe space where they can make the most of the great British Summer and immerse themselves in the great outdoors, whilst enjoying quality time with loved ones, is a real privilege and we’ve certainly missed welcoming visitors on site.”
