MORLEY HAYES SET TO BE THE FIRST GOLF COMPLEX IN ENGLAND TO REOPEN

Derbyshire golf complex Morley Hayes is set to be the first golf centre in England to reopen when lockdown restrictions are lifted on Monday, marking the first steps on the road to recovery for the golf industry.

 

The golf centre is set to reopen just after midnighton Monday March 29with a charity golf tournament whichwill be played on the complex’s Tower Course.

The Tower Course is one of only a handful of courses in the country with its own floodlights, which will illuminate seven of the nine holes on the course. Golfers will also play with special balls that light up as soon as they’re hit.

Seven teams of four players will be taking part in the tournament, which will have a Shotgun start, with all teams teeing off from a different hole at the same time. A silent flare will be let off at 12.01am to start the event.

All proceeds from the golf tournament will be donated to the Nottingham Breast Cancer Research Centre.

Thetournament has captured the imagination of Morley Hayes’ golfers, who have jumped at the chance to get back out on the green for this memorable event.

Strict safety measures will be in place at the golf complex. Hand washing stations must be used upon arrival and when leaving. Perspex screens have also been installed to keep staff and players safe.

The golf complex at Morley Hayes, along with the rest of the golf sector, has been closed since the latest lockdown came into effect on 5 January 2021 and for much of the past 12 monthstoo.

Commenting on being the first golf complex in England to reopen, Andrew Allsop, managing director of Morley Hayes, said:

“We can’t wait to welcome back existing golfers and welcome new players to our facilities over the coming weeks.”

Set in the stunning Derbyshire countryside overlooking parkland golf courses, golf facilities at Morley Hayes include the championship length 18-hole Manor Course, 9-hole Tower Course, golf pavilion and the recently refurbished 26 bayall weather floodlit driving range. It is also home to the highly respected East Midlands Golf Academy.

Morley Hayes also boasts a luxury four star, 32-bedroom hotel and a choice of three restaurants, including the award-winning two AA rosette Dovecote restaurant, Roosters and Spike Bar.
