CHILDREN’S CHARITY BOOSTED BY DONATION FROM AMAZON TEAM

A Nottingham-based children’s charity has received a £1,000 donation from the Amazon team in Kegworth.

The Rosie May Foundation work to support families in crisis in Sri Lanka and Nepal, to protect children from the risk of trafficking, exploitation and abandonment. In response to the pandemic, the charity utilised their pink tuk-tuk to help support the local community in Nottinghamshire by delivering essential items to vulnerable families and those isolated in rural communities.

The donation from the Amazon team will go towards supporting the charity’s community programme so that they can keep their tuk-tuk on the road and reach more vulnerable families in Nottinghamshire.

Commenting on the donation, Celia Syme, Site Leader at Amazon in Kegworth, said:

“We’re pleased to make this donation to The Rosie May Foundation, a great charity that has provided support to many families both in the UK and abroad.”

Mary Storrie, from The Rosie May Foundation, added:

“On behalf of everyone at The Rosie May Foundation, I want to say a big thank you to Celia and the team from Amazon. Donations like this allow us to keep providing support to children and families who need it the most.”

The Rosie May Foundation received the donation as part of the “Amazon in the Community” programme, whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.

Community donations are one of a number of ways in which Amazon is supporting communities across the UK during COVID-19.

Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic breakfast and delivering over 2 million healthy breakfasts to families around the UK.
