AMAZON TEAM PROVIDES A LESSON IN HOME LEARNING

A Wingerworth primary school has received a donation of over £3,500 from the team at Amazon’s Chesterfield fulfilment centre.

The Amazon team wanted to support Deer Park Primary School as many children did not have devices at home to allow them to continue their schoolwork while not in the classroom. The donation has covered the cost of 30 Kindle devices and covers.

Amazon has also created free resources https://blog.aboutamazon.co.uk/in-the-community/home-schooling-resources-for-parents-carers-and-children-during-lockdown for teachers, parents and carers to keep children learning while away from school.

Speaking on the donation, Richard Cowlishaw-Ellison, Site Leader at Amazon Chesterfield, said:

“At Amazon, we’re passionate about the development of children’s education and we’re pleased to support Deer Park Primary School with this donation of Kindle devices to help the pupils with their home-schooling.”

Headteacher Simon Beardall, from Deer Park Primary School added:

“I want to say a huge thank you to the team from Amazon for this kind donation. It’s essential children are given the right resources to help them continue schoolwork seamlessly during remote learning. These Kindle devices will be a great help to many children at Deer Park.”

Deer Park Primary School received the donation as part of the “Amazon in the Community” programme, whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.

Community donations are one of a number of ways in which Amazon is supporting communities across the UK during COVID-19.

Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering over 2 million healthy breakfasts to families around the UK.
