Peter James Homes Takes To The Road in Support of Mission Christmas

An East Midlands property developer has lent its support to a charitable campaign to bring happiness to disadvantaged children across the Midlands this Christmas.

Nottingham-based Peter James Homes organised a tour of its housing developments in Giltbrook and Bestwood, to collect presents for ‘Mission Christmas’ – an annual event run by nationwide charity, Cash for Kids.

The idea was to use their well-known purple and green van to collect present donations and then take them to the local Mission Christmas HQ, so that the charity’s Midlands branch can provide the region’s disadvantaged kids with much-needed gifts on Christmas Day.

MaryClaire, sales & customer care manager at Peter James Homes, said:

“It’s been a tough year for everyone, so we were thrilled to be able to collaborate with Mission Christmas in bringing some extra joy to local children on Christmas Day.

“For kids who have had a difficult year, a Christmas present means so much. It shows that someone is thinking about them and that someone cares, so this is an initiative that really deserves our support.”

In addition to taking to the road in the well-known PJH van to collect donated Christmas presents, the team also held a Christmas Jumper Day on December 11th to raise money in support of Mission Christmas’s work.

MaryClaire added:

“We encouraged our staff, partners and suppliers to raise money by making themselves look as silly as possible. With companies such as McCann, Poppy-PR and M360  joining in with our festive plans."

Cash for Kids was established by Bauer Media in 2012 to help children in need across the UK. Its mission is to improve the lives of disadvantaged young people who are affected by poverty, illness or neglect.

While the charity raises funds in a variety of ways, including lunches, dinners and golfing days, Mission Christmas remains one of the three most important initiatives in its annual fundraising calendar.

Matt Postlethwaite, project manager at Cash for Kids Midlands, said:

“Mission Christmas is about getting gifts to local children who would otherwise wake up on Christmas Day with nothing.

“In 2019, we delivered gifts to nearly 11,000 disadvantaged kids across the Midlands - and this Christmas, with the added impact of the pandemic, we know that more families than ever will be pushed to the limit.

“It makes a huge difference when companies like Peter James Homes step forward and support us in our work - so we would like to extend our sincere thanks, both to the wearers of fundraising jumpers and to the givers of Christmas gifts, for their help and generosity.”
