Chestnut Homes continues support for Bardney Cemetery Improvement Fund

Chestnut Homes has donated £1,000 to a volunteer community project in Bardney aiming to improve the local cemetery.

Chestnut Homes has been building at the Manor Farm development in the village and has sponsored the Bardney Cemetery Improvement Fund since 2016.

Margaret Sankey, who set up the fund in 2014, said:

“We are a very small independent group of dedicated and hardworking volunteers who still have a great deal of work to do to maintain the memorials that we have previously restored and to continue our restoration programme.

“We hope at some point in the future to be in a position to enter the Best Kept Cemetery of The Year Competition.  We could not entertain this idea were it not for the continued support from Chestnut Homes and the businesses and people of Bardney for which we are immensely grateful.”

David Newton, Managing Director of Chestnut Homes, said:

“The group behind the Bardney Cemetery Improvement Fund have done an absolutely fantastic job over the last six years in maintaining and improving the cemetery.

“We have become so much a part of the community in Bardney over the last few years with our Manor Farm development and showing our support to great projects like this is just another way for us to show our commitment to the village.

“We are pleased to be supporting the improvement fund for the fourth consecutive year and look forward to our future working with the team."

The money donated by the housebuilder will go towards the cleaning and restoring of memorials, where there are no family members able to do so.
