Russell Scanlan presents grand total to Alzheimer’s Society

Nottingham’s largest independent insurance broker, Russell Scanlan has presented an incredible £5000 to the Alzheimer’s Society, the UK-based charity which funds life-saving research and helps those suffering with or affected by dementia.

Alzheimer’s Society was Russell Scanlan’s chosen charity for 2019 and the company held various fundraising events throughout the year; including its annual Charity Quiz Night at Trent Bridge, bake sales, holiday raffles and a Christmas Jumper day. Account handler Bridget Knowles also ran her first Robin Hood half-marathon, raising over £550 for the charity.

Alzheimer’s Society works nationwide to offer help and support for people suffering with or affected by dementia. With an office based in Nottingham, the team run local services including home care for patients with dementia as well as support groups for friends and family across the East Midlands. As well as supporting people within the region, Russell Scanlan’s donation will also help towards funding potentially life-saving research.

Bryan Banbury, Russell Scanlan’s Managing Director, said:

“Alzheimer’s Society is a brilliant charity which carries out vital work in supporting people with dementia. I’m delighted that we’ve been able to raise such a significant sum towards providing more support as well as funding much needed research. I’d like to say a big thank you to our staff and the many local businesses who have shown their support for our fundraising efforts.”

Olly Larkin, Community Fundraiser for the East Midlands at Alzheimer’s Society said:

“Dementia is now the UK’s biggest killer. Alzheimer’s Society, the UK’s largest dementia charity, is here to support anyone affected by dementia. Every penny donated to Alzheimer’s Society is making sure we can be there for people living with dementia. For every £1 of expenditure, 89p is spent on improving the lives of people with dementia. The remaining 11p is spent on supporting frontline activities.

“With the generous support of Russell Scanlan raising an incredible £5,000, Alzheimer’s Society will make even greater progress towards our vision of a world without dementia. We are the only UK charity investing in research into dementia care, cause, cure and prevention. We’ve committed to spending £150 million on cutting-edge research over the next decade. Every project we fund directly addresses the needs and concerns of people affected by dementia.”

Russell Scanlan has been committed to supporting local organisations and charities over its long history in Nottingham, raising funds for a variety of causes and charities including Forget-Me-Notts, My Sight Notts, The Nottingham Stroke Club and Linden Lodge Neurological Rehabilitation Unit.
