Leicestershire homebuilder makes donation for accessible facilities to local church

St John the Baptist Church in Hugglescote has received a £250 donation from local developer David Wilson Homes to go towards the renovation of its accessible facilities.

The donation was made from the homebuilder’s Community Fund, which aims to support local communities surrounding its developments.

The money will be used to refurbish the disabled toilet at the church, furthering efforts to make it an inclusive community space as well as a place of worship.

Reverend Olwen Woolcock and other representatives from the church, including: Joanna Mawer (PCC secretary), Elaine Howorth (organist), Hazel Hudson (choir director) and Ray Woolcock, were joined by Susan James, a Sales Adviser at David Wilson Homes’ nearby development Grange View, who attended to present the group with the donation.

About the donation, Olwen said:

“We thank David Wilson for their donation. It will help us improve our facilities, so we can serve all members of the local community.”

St John the Baptist Church has existed at the centre of the village since it was built in 1878 and maintains strong links with community groups and the local school.
