Local developer makes donation to Burton Hospital Neo Natal Unit

Leading housebuilder David Wilson Homes has made a donation to Queen’s Hospital Burton’s Neo Natal Unit as part of its efforts to support the communities around its developments.

The unit cares for premature babies and those that need care immediately after birth and was nominated by David Wilson Homes employee Richard Caddy.

Richard has worked as an Architectural Technician at David Wilson Homes for five years and put the unit forward for the donation after they saved the lives of both of his children.

Both Albie and Erin, now 2 and seven months, required specialist care at Queen’s Hospital after being born with life-threatening conditions. Richard credits the hospital, and the Neo Natal Unit in particular, with providing the immediate care necessary to ensure that both his children could lead happy and healthy lives.

Richard said:

“The care they provide is unbelievable and is incredibly professional in the most difficult circumstances. Nurses and doctors are always on hand to reassure you and support you in every way.

“It is important to our family that all new parents that may ever go through a similar scenario can receive the same level of care that we and our children experienced.”

Richard hopes that the donation can be used to support parents by providing the immediate necessary supplies, such as specially sized clothing and nappies, which parents don’t always have prepared when their babies arrive unexpectedly early.

John Reddington, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said:

“We are delighted to make a donation to the Neo Natal Unit at Queen’s Hospital Burton, especially as this is such a personal cause for one of our employees.

“As a leading homebuilder, we aim to engage with and support the local areas around our developments as much as possible and, by making this donation, we hope to help the hospital continue their fantastic work.”
