The VAL Awards Return to Honour Leicestershire's Charity Sector Heroes

The VAL Awards Return to Honour Leicestershire's Charity Sector Heroes

Following the success of 2019’s inaugural awards, Voluntary Action LeicesterShire (VAL) is once more calling for the public to nominate the individuals, charities and voluntary organisations that have made a significant impact during the pandemic.

Their inspiring achievements, over perhaps the most challenging period of the 21st Century, will be celebrated in a glittering award ceremony held at Leicester’s Marriott Hotel on the 28th October 2021.

With over 2,000 registered charities across Leicester and Leicestershire plus an estimated 3,800 grassroots organisations, all delivering services to some of the most hard to reach and vulnerable people in society, VAL wanted to ensure that the important role that is played by them and the vital services they provide are recognised.  Designed to celebrate the people that really make a difference, this year members of the public will have 11 categories to nominate for including COVID-19 Hero; Volunteer of the Year and the much-coveted Charity of the Year.

Kevin Allen-Khimani, Executive Manager – Public Sector Contracts and Projects at VAL commented:

“Over the last 18 months we’ve been astounded and inspired by the tireless work done by volunteers, charities and organisations. Everyone has given so much of their time, their support and their love and we hope that this year’s VAL Awards will highlight their amazing contributions to the community.

“We’ve made it even easier to nominate this year, just visit www.valonline.org.uk/valawards and tell us who you’d like to nominate, the category and why.  It couldn’t be simpler.  All we ask is that you make your nominations before 5pm on the 1st October.  All nominations will be assessed by industry and sector experts, before the final three nominees in each category are decided upon.  These will be announced Wednesday 6th October.”

The Val Awards 2021 Categories are:

  • City Charity of the Year
  • County Charity of the Year
  • Social Enterprise of the Year
  • Volunteer Led Organisation of the Year
  • Trustee of the Year
  • COVID Hero
  • Young Volunteer of the Year
  • Charity of the Year
  • Lifetime Achievement Award

Nominations close 5pm Friday 1st October.

This year’s event will take place at the stunning Grove Suite at Marriott Hotel Leicester and will play host to up to 300 of the sector’s most important individuals – be they inspiring leaders or unsung heroes – and will represent an opportunity to reconnect, share stories and celebrate the way that the sector has rallied together to help others in such trying times.

Sponsorship Opportunities are still available for this year’s awards. To find out more talk to VAL on 0116 257 5050, via email at valawards@valonline.org.uk or visit https://valonline.org.uk/
