£22m orders from apps key to saving hospitality jobs

More than one million orders of food and drink have been made through purpose-built apps since the outbreak of the Covid pandemic in the UK.

App4's solutions have been key to the survival of restaurants, pubs and takeaways.

They have been used by 376,545 people with total orders of 1,060,755 over the past nine months and generated orders to the value of £22m.

The figures were released by the Derby-based company as the Government announced new restrictions on the hospitality industry to combat the second wave of Covid 19.

App4’s founder, Ian Chambers, said: “We create apps which help businesses reduce their costs, maximize profits and provide a direct personal service to our customers.

“We know from some of our clients that our bespoke app has helped save jobs because they have been able to maintain much of their pre-Covid business.

“Ordering by app from tables or in advance of visiting takeaways gives customers confidence of staying safe.

“The figures speak for themselves and we are pleased that they have quickly learned how to use the bespoke apps to order the food and drink from their favourite establishments.

“This upturn in our orders has also enabled us to play our part in helping the local economy by taking on more staff to cope with demand.”

Apps from App4 have been used in outlets from Cumbria to Sussex and Ian says that the company is ready to help with extra developments over the crucial winter months.

He added: “We create apps which suit the needs of individual customers and are already offering a free track and trace addition.

“We listen to the needs of our clients and their customers and understand that the environment is changing all of the time.”
