The X Factor’s Sam Bailey has been boosting lockdown morale with her own fan-based interactive video group online.

And the Facebook Live segment, dubbed Bailey’s Cuppa Crew, has one eye on raising funds for Loughborough children’s charity Rainbows later this year.

The Leicestershire mum-of-three and her legion of fans have been keeping spirits up over the past couple of weeks, discussing the ups and downs of life during the COVID-19 crisis.

Born out of a bid to help mental health during lockdown, Sam explained the origins of Bailey’s Cuppa Crew: “Like a lot of people, I was finding that I needed a bit of a boost in the mornings. As things gradually returned to normal with schools opening and such like, I was up early with an empty house.

“I started doing these live videos really as a space to chat to my fans, but what I’ve found is that there is a real positive community spirit going on, with everyone helping each other to battle through these weird times.”

The Cuppa Crew has grown quickly over the past week, reaching over 5,000 members daily, and has inspired dedicated viewers to do their own Facebook Live videos as part of the experience.

Fans can hear Sam sing, get a birthday shout-out or simply find out what life is like for the X Factor winner during lockdown.

The week kicks off with a Monday giveaway, with Sam having already donated prizes such as coffee machines, hoodies, CDs, and one-on-one time with dedicated viewers.

On Friday’s, Sam hosts a live gig from her home, with song requests forming a virtual tip jar, which goes into the Monday giveaways, merchandise and the day to day running of the group which welcomes new members everyday.

And Sam hopes to repay fans’ faith with a charity gig later this year, teaming up once again with her long-running partner Rainbows Hospice and Leicester Hospitals Charity.

“Like everyone, I’m looking forward to being able to do the stuff I love and sing for this lovely and dedicated bunch of fans once restrictions lift.

“As a mum-of-three, the work Rainbows does with children means so much to me and I can’t wait to be able to support them even further."

Fans can catch Sam and her Cuppa Crew videos every morning, with Sam hoping to give away more fantastic prizes in the coming days and weeks.
